Little Fang remembers the popular items from childhood
such as pencil cases with “mechanisms”,
and celebrity stickers……
For today’s children,
the trendiest item
might just be the children’s smart phone watch.
It can make calls and provide location tracking,
and many parents are willing to equip their children with one.
It is said that this high-tech device
can locate the child’s position at any time.

As for whether the location is accurate,
Ms. Zhu, who lives in the Pudong Jinxiu Qiancheng community,
has her own opinions.
⬇️⬇️⬇️
Recently, Ms. Zhu’s daughter
lost aLittle Genius watch,
and when Ms. Zhu opened theAppto search for it,
the location showedthe watch was in the Huangpu District Jian De community.

The problem is,
Ms. Zhu’s family has never been to that place.

It turns out that on the evening of September 30, around six o’clock,
after picking up her daughter from school,
Ms. Zhu drove over the Nanpu Bridge and through the Bund Tunnel,
heading to Hongkou District for dinner.
Afterwards, they returned to the Jinxiu Qiancheng community,
and around eight o’clock that evening,
Ms. Zhu discovered her daughter’s watch was missing,
so she started searching based on the location.

Ms. Zhu

At this point, the watch’s location was shown to be in the Huangpu District Jian De community. Since we have never been to Huangpu, our first reaction was that the watch must have been with us during dinner in Hongkou and might have been picked up by someone and taken to Huangpu.
At this time, the APP showed that
the Little Genius watch’s network and location were both normal,
but Ms. Zhu repeatedly called,
and no one answered the watch.

Ms. Zhureported the watch as lost on the Little Genius APP,
Before reporting, the last returned information still showed,
the watch was in Huangpu Jian De community.

Just as she was preparing to report to the police,
she unexpectedly discovered that
the watch was in the underground garage of her own community.

Ms. Zhu

My car has always been with me, and being in this location in Pudong New District means that the watch has never left, it has always been in Pudong, and came back with me after dinner in Hongkou.
To prove her point,
Ms. Zhu opened her phone
and checked the “Important Locations” in the “Location Services”,
and according to the phone’s records,
that evening Ms. Zhu indeed did not go to Huangpu District.

Although the watch was found,
the thought that if the child was wearing the watch at the time
and experienced such “strange” location tracking
made Ms. Zhu feel a chill down her back.
Why did the “Little Genius” location tracking experience “drift”?
The reporter and Ms. Zhu called the customer service of the Little Genius watch together
and the customer service staff asked Ms. Zhu to confirm
whether there was a problem with the watch’s network,
and Ms. Zhuconfirmed it was not an issue with the mobile network operator

Ms. Zhu

Because before it was lost, it showed that the network was normal, the battery was also normal, and it showed it was in Huangpu. After I reported it lost, it showed no network, but it still showed in Huangpu’s Jian De community, so I think it has little to do with the signal. Additionally, we are concerned that if the signal is blocked and cannot be read, it would be very sincere to show that it cannot be read, but giving a very definite Huangpu address can easily mislead us.
Subsequently, customer service stated that
this might be a problem with one of the watch’s protective features.
It turns out that the watch can set and adjust a range,
and if the child leaves that range, it will trigger an alarm.
If the home and school set ranges overlap,
the system is prone to errors.
Little Genius watch customer service staff:
Because your home distance and school distance are too close, the school’s protective range is a circle, and the home’s protective range is also a circle. If both circles overlap, it will definitely cause errors. You need to separate the two circles; they cannot collide. If they collide, it will cause confusion.
From the customer service’s response,
it seems that similar issues encountered by Ms. Zhu
are not the first occurrence.
Since a loophole has been discovered,
why doesn’t the manufacturer take steps to avoid it?
At the very least, when selling,
they should clearly explain and inform users
about the relevant adjustment methods.
After all, the initial intention of adults buying this watch for children is
to accurately locate the child’s position.

Ms. Zhu

Because the child is now in the second grade and goes to school by themselves, parents cannot pick them up, so safety is the top priority. But once it drifts from Pudong to Huangpu, the trouble it causes us is very frightening to think about.
According to Little Fang’s understanding,
the sales of the Little Genius watch account for
26% of the global children’s watch market
even Huawei can only look on with a 9% market share in second place.

With such a large market share,
it means they are tied to the safety of countless children.
This is also the reason many parents are willing to spend money.
However, for children,
the most used features are various fun functions.

I bought this watch because I want to make more friends and have many common topics with them, so I can fit in with them.
It has many functions, such as making calls, listening to stories, and even taking videos.

I like its function of calculating how many steps you walk (why?) because it shows how many steps you take, and it gets better every day.
After sitting for an hour, it reminds me to exercise, and if I walk 1000 steps in a day, it shows a trophy, and it can also measure heart rate.

Little Fang remembers
the slogan of Little Genius is:
“No matter where you are, a call will find you immediately”
Hopefully, Little Genius can first find its own location,
this is the foundation for gaining market and user trust.
