With impressive competition results, he was directly admitted to Peking University in 2010, starting a combined bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral program. World-class institutions like Harvard made exceptions for him, allowing him to skip the English entrance exam, but he declined, citing that “the application process was too troublesome.” He focused on mathematical research and was known as “Master Wei” at the School of Mathematics at Peking University. In his junior year, he represented Peking University in the “Qiu Chengtong University Student Mathematics Competition,” winning 6 gold medals and multiple awards, shocking the mathematics community.
