First Low-Carbon Eco-Friendly E-Paper Display Bus Stops Debut in Yangzhou Economic Development Zone

With a clear black text on a white background, real-time updates on bus arrival times, and a solar photovoltaic panel on top continuously generating clean energy… Recently, citizens waiting at the bus stops “Yangzhou Zhigu East” and “Traffic Police Brigade” on Yangtze River Road were pleasantly surprised to find that the electronic displays at these bus stops had changed – they now use low-carbon, eco-friendly e-paper displays as smart display carriers. This initiative is part of the Yangzhou Economic Development Zone’s construction bureau’s efforts to achieve green development as mandated by the Party Working Committee of the Economic Development Zone, in collaboration with the Green Investment Group and the City Bus Group, launching the first pilot transformation of e-paper display bus stops in Yangzhou.

On-site reporters observed that the e-paper display bus stops clearly show real-time public service information such as date, time, bus routes, and arrival times. Even under direct sunlight, the black text on a white background remains clearly visible, allowing waiting citizens and tourists to easily and intuitively access bus information and plan their time accordingly.

According to reports, these upgraded bus stops are equipped with photovoltaic panels installed on the roof, which charge using solar energy and supply power through batteries, achieving self-sufficiency in energy. This effectively overcomes the limitations of power supply conditions, making it especially suitable for bus stops without electricity. It is predicted that an e-paper display bus stop consumes only 17 kWh of electricity per year, which is expected to save 596.2 kWh annually compared to a 32-inch outdoor high-brightness LCD screen, equivalent to saving 238.5 kg of standard coal and reducing approximately 594.4 kg of carbon dioxide emissions.Currently, the Economic Development Zone is accelerating the construction of a zero-carbon demonstration area. The debut of the e-paper display bus stops in the city development zone is one of the important measures for the Economic Development Zone to keep pace with green and low-carbon development and explore new paths to zero carbon. In the next step, the construction bureau of the Economic Development Zone will expand the scope of e-paper bus stop transformations based on pilot results, while also significantly increasing the proportion of new energy and clean energy-powered transportation tools, continuously enhancing the “green content” in the transportation sector, and helping the park build a new situation of coordinated economic green development and environmental resource protection.First Low-Carbon Eco-Friendly E-Paper Display Bus Stops Debut in Yangzhou Economic Development ZoneSource: Yangzhou News Media CenterEditor: Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone Party and Government Office
