On September 5, news from market research firm TechInsights indicated that consumer spending on smart home systems and services will continue to grow robustly. The firm predicts that global consumer spending on smart homes will reach $131 billion in 2023, a 10% increase from 2022.
In the next five years, spending in the smart home sector will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 8%, reaching $191 billion by 2028.
TechInsights also forecasts that interactive security systems will become the largest segment in the smart home market in 2023, maintaining a CAGR of 9%, and is expected to reach $48 billion by 2028. By then, there will be 550 million households worldwide with at least one smart home system installed.
What is an Interactive Security System?
An interactive security system refers to a comprehensive system that achieves security monitoring, alarm, linkage, and other functions through various security devices and systems. It helps people promptly detect and address various security issues, enhancing their security capabilities.
Interactive security systems typically include video surveillance systems, intrusion alarm systems, access control systems, fire alarm systems, and intelligent inspection systems. These systems integrate and interact to achieve comprehensive security management and control.
Video surveillance systems can provide round-the-clock monitoring of key areas, automatically detecting and alerting on abnormal situations; intrusion alarm systems can provide real-time alerts and linkage responses to illegal intrusions; access control systems can manage entry and exit points to prevent unauthorized access; fire alarm systems can promptly detect and handle fire-related incidents; and intelligent inspection systems can automatically inspect and record inspection conditions, quickly identifying and addressing various security hazards.
The advantages include enhancing security capabilities and protecting people’s lives and property; additionally, they can be managed and controlled intelligently, improving work efficiency and reliability. Furthermore, interactive security systems can integrate and link with other intelligent systems for even more intelligent management and control.
In summary, interactive security systems are an indispensable part of modern society, providing people with safer, more reliable, and intelligent security assurance.
Main Applications of Interactive Security Systems in Smart Homes:
Video Surveillance: Through devices such as smart cameras, real-time monitoring of home situations can be achieved, allowing users to check changes in their homes anytime and anywhere via their smartphones. Smart cameras also feature human motion detection alarms, two-way audio, multi-user sharing, infrared night vision, and HD playback.
Burglary Alarm: Home burglary devices include human activity and door/window switch sensing devices (such as infrared intrusion detectors, door/window magnets, smart locks, etc.). These devices can sense when someone enters or a door/window opens while the system is armed, triggering an alarm and promptly sending the detected anomalies to the user’s phone, thereby protecting family and property.
Fire Warning: Common household fire alarm devices include smoke detectors, gas leak detectors, smart switches, etc. They will issue alarms when smoke or combustible gas reaches a certain concentration, or automatically cut off power to prevent fires, rather than notifying users only after an incident occurs.
Conclusion: The fact that interactive security systems are the largest segment of the smart home market shows that safety is always the primary concern for people. Smart homes often start with safety, and the combination of safety and intelligence in smart home systems not only provides a sense of security but also incorporates entertainment, health, and care functions, becoming the key to unlocking the smart home market. It is believed that in the future, smart homes will enter more households.
