The global electronics media group AspenCore released the 2017 Embedded Market Research Survey Report, with respondents mainly from North America (56.3%), Europe (25.2%), and Asia (10.6%).

C language remains the most widely used language in embedded systems, with a significant gap. C++, Python, and even assembly language are gaining attention.
On the system side, Embedded Linux distributions are rapidly spreading, with Debian and Ubuntu being commonly used. FreeRTOS ranks second, while Android holds the fourth position with 13%.
Git finally surpassed Subversion in 2017, moving from second place with a 5% margin.
