How the Intelligent Logistics Drive System Integrates Electric Rollers
(CANopen devices) with PROFINET Master Controller
Application Scenario
In an intelligent factory environment, an efficient logistics system requires an integrated and systematic approach, organically combining different adaptable logistics software and hardware technologies for various operational scenarios.
CANopen is a traditional industrial automation communication protocol, typically used by slave products such as electric rollers. In a project in Suzhou, the Siemens S7-1500 connects up to 50 electric roller controls to process cargo acceleration and deceleration control based on position sensors.
It is well known that CANopen signals cannot be directly integrated into PROFINET communication systems. Equipment suppliers often focus on core business development and may not invest significant time and cost in developing the PROFINET protocol.
To quickly solve the above problems, we use theET005Pro protocol gateway to convert CANopen slave product signals into PROFINET signals, easily achieving the connection between the PROFINET communication system and various CANopen slave nodes, ensuring stable and reliable signal conversion and transmission.

ET005Pro High-Performance Gateway
To improve data processing speed and reduce network system latency, the EnTalk series gateways are designed for high-performance applications with a new architecture. The gateway uses two Xone (embedded unified boards) to independently implement different protocols. The two Xone exchange data via a high-speed link. The following diagram shows the framework of the ET005Pro Ethernet to Serial conversion, with Ethernet being the PROFINET industrial Ethernet protocol and the serial port being the CAN protocol.

The on-site photoelectric sensor triggering signal has a cycle time of 10.18ms through the electric roller to the CANopen bus. The gateway IO update cycle time is 2ms, with a response time of less than 10ms.
