On November 7, 2019, leading semiconductor component distributor in the Asia-Pacific market – Dai Lian Da Holdings announced
that its subsidiary Shih Ping has launched an advanced driver assistance solution based on the NXP (NXP) S32R274 77G mmWave Radar.

Millimeter wave (mmWave) is a special radar technology that uses short wavelength electromagnetic waves (operating frequency in the range of 30-300GHz). The electromagnetic wave signals emitted by the radar system are blocked by objects along its emission path and then reflected. By capturing the reflected signals, the radar system can determine the distance, speed, and angle of the object. The NXP S32R27 is a 32-bit microcontroller based on Power Architecture, aimed at automotive and industrial radar applications, and has improved the performance-to-power ratio by more than four times compared to the previous MPC577X products, capable of handling advanced radar signal processing and integrating it with microcontroller functions, suitable for general software tasks and automotive bus interfacing. It offers unique signal processing acceleration and a powerful multi-core architecture to meet the high-performance computing requirements of modern beamforming fast linear frequency modulation radar systems.
The 77GHz radar reference design solution based on NXP S32R274+TEF8102 launched by Dai Lian Da Shih Ping can be used for RADAR software development, performance/system evaluation, and application demonstration to help developers quickly prototype high-performance automotive radar using NXP technology. Currently, the scenarios where this solution is applied mainly include Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assistance, Parking Assistance, and Simple Gesture Recognition in onboard driver assistance.

MCU Board: Uses the market-leading radar processor NXP S32R274, paired with the safe and high-performance radar power management chip FS8410, while integrating a gigabit line-speed Ethernet MAC module (ENET) for high-speed communication, receiving data sent from the RF Board via MIPI-CSI2. S32R274 is a dual Power Architecture e200z4 32-bit CPU, with a verifier core (available in lock-step operation), and integrates a Signal Processing Toolbox (SPT) for high-performance hardware acceleration of RADAR signal processing operations.
RF Board: TEF810X (Dolphin) is a single-chip 77 GHz transceiver, integrating three transmission channels and four reception channels, high-fidelity onboard ADC, and MIPI-CSI2 transmission interface, capable of transmitting digitized RADAR signals to the MCU.
