After several months of strict dieting and exercise, your computer has become very small, almost pocket-sized, but still retains all its original capabilities—this is the mini host!
The mini host is like the “mini version” of a desktop computer. Although it is small in size, its internal power should not be underestimated. So, I used the mini computer for a month to experience what is different from a normal desktop, taking the Maxtang Datang host as an example.

On the front of the mini host, there are USB3.0 and USB-C ports, as well as audio and microphone ports, and the button on the right is the power button.
On the back of the host, there are two USB2.0 ports and a gigabit network port. Don’t underestimate this small host; it is also equipped with two HDMI ports, making it easy to connect two 4K monitors.
So how does this mini host achieve heat dissipation?
Upon opening it, I found that it uses a CPU similar to that of a laptop, and its thickness is slightly greater than that of a laptop, so the heat dissipation is better than that of a laptop.
In addition, it is equipped with an AMD 5600U, which is inherently low power, and it has a cooling fan inside. Therefore, there is no need to worry about heat dissipation issues leading to poor performance.
The following image shows the configuration of this mini host, which can be said to have overall performance comparable to a lightweight laptop priced around 4000.
This Maxtang Datang host performed excellently in the Lu Master evaluation, with a total score close to 800,000, where the CPU score reached 480,000, the graphics card score exceeded 66,000, the memory was close to 100,000, and the hard disk reached 140,000.
This performance undoubtedly reaches the level of mainstream flagship computers. Its performance is strong enough to easily handle daily office software and run many low-quality AAA games.
But overall, compared to desktops, although the performance of mini computers has greatly improved, desktops still have advantages in many aspects.
Desktop processors and graphics cards are usually more powerful than mini computers and can better handle high-intensity tasks such as advanced gaming, video editing, and 3D modeling.
In addition, another advantage of desktops is their upgradability. Users can replace and upgrade hardware as needed, such as processors, graphics cards, memory, and hard disks. However, due to their small size, the internal hardware of mini computers is often integrated and cannot be replaced or upgraded.
So if you ask whether mini computers will replace desktops, you should have the answer in your heart now.
