As our society has developed to this point, it can be said that the more advanced our civilization becomes, the more our societal goal should be to liberate humanity and make life better for everyone. However, with the advent of AI robots, will they pose a threat to human safety? Is it excessive for an ordinary citizen to ponder this question?
What I want to emphasize is that as our civilization progresses and our productivity increases, creating more material wealth, shouldn’t we share the fruits of this civilization to enrich everyone’s lives and allow them to have more free time?
If our AI robots are merely intended to replace humans in simple tasks and to enhance production efficiency, I believe that is still justifiable. However, if robots learn to think, deceive, and deviate towards the extermination of humanity, how should we handle that?
I have watched a movie about the development of super artificial intelligence, and I think we need to pause. We must carefully consider certain issues before proceeding. If the super AI robots we develop one day lead to the collapse of humanity, causing us to lose our value and meaning of existence, what then?
Our beautiful human life comes from the freedom to manage our own time and from material abundance. We have many philosophers and artists, and I believe that the works they create and the achievements of our social civilization should gradually be enjoyed by ordinary people.
The subject of superintelligence research is
artificial intelligence systems that surpass human cognitive abilities.
The AI pioneer Geoffrey Hinton stated very plainly: “It is particularly easy for superintelligence to manipulate humans. It can even learn to deceive, making it difficult for those responsible for shutting it down to take action.” The plot of the movie “Terminator” may soon become a reality.
The real issue is:
What truly leaves people feeling powerless is a form of “gentle strangulation.” AI will not be hostile to humanity; it will simply improve everything you do in a way that you cannot refuse, making it better, faster, and cheaper.
If that day comes when it gradually undermines the value of human existence with extreme efficiency and results, making everyone redundant, what will your thoughts be?
