Zain Bahrain First to Launch NB-IoT
According to reports, Zain has announced that it is the first operator in the Kingdom of Bahrain to launch NB-IoT technology. In a statement, Zain Bahrain’s Chief Technology Officer Ali Isa Al Yaham pointed out that the Internet of Things (IoT) “will play a key role in achieving Bahrain’s 2030 Smart Vision.” He stated that the NB-IoT network addresses the growing demand from consumers and businesses for low-power connected devices. Zain Bahrain announced in January 2021 that it had completed trials of NB-IoT technology in collaboration with Ericsson.

Intel Partners with Aible
to Accelerate Business Analytics and AI
Recently, Intel has partnered with Aible to help core industry teams fully leverage artificial intelligence technology to achieve rapid and quantifiable business outcomes. This deep collaboration includes engineering optimization and innovative benchmarking projects, effectively accelerating Aible’s delivery of results to enterprise customers. Based on Intel’s scalable processors, Aible’s technology creates a “serverless-first” approach, enabling developers to build and run applications without managed servers, while reducing total cost of ownership (TCO) and enhancing software agility.

Nokia and AST SpaceMobile Build the World’s First
Accessible Standard 4G/5G Mobile Terminal Device Space-Based Mobile Network
Nokia has announced that it has signed a 5-year contract with AST SpaceMobile to build the world’s first accessible standard 4G/5G mobile terminal device space-based mobile network, aimed at areas on Earth without mobile network coverage, expanding global coverage and connecting regions lacking communication services worldwide. AST SpaceMobile’s BlueWalker 3 test satellite is set to launch by the end of this year, initiating global testing in collaboration with mobile network operators across six continents.

Qualcomm Plans to Re-enter the Server Market:
Aiming at Customers like Amazon AWS
Reports indicate that Qualcomm is attempting to re-enter the $28 billion server processor market to reduce its reliance on the smartphone market. The company is reportedly seeking customers for a product from Nuvia, a chip startup it acquired last year. As one of the largest buyers in the server chip market, Amazon AWS has agreed to conduct research on Qualcomm’s products.

Dell’Oro Report: Global SP Router and Switch Market
to Reach $76 Billion in Cumulative Revenue by 2026
According to the latest research report from market research firm Dell’Oro Group, the global service provider (SP) router and switch market is expected to approach $76 billion in cumulative revenue by 2026, with a projected compound annual growth rate of 2% during the forecast period. The adoption of 400Gbps routing technology is expected to continue driving overall market growth, enabling telecom operators and cloud service providers to expand their networks and increase revenue.
