Valens Collaborates with Seven MIPI A-PHY Chip Manufacturers to Complete Interoperability Testing, Accelerating the Development of the MIPI A-PHY Ecosystem in China and Globally

On March 4, 2025, Valens Semiconductor (NYSE: VLN), a global leader in automotive high-speed connectivity technology, announced the successful completion of interoperability testing with seven MIPI A-PHY chip providers.

The seven companies are: Analogix, ISEE Technology, Yutai Microelectronics, OmniVision, Silergy, Chipset Technology, and ShouChuan Microelectronics. This testing is a key milestone in promoting the large-scale implementation of the A-PHY standard in China.

China has now formed a robust A-PHY ecosystem, with numerous local companies actively engaged in the research and development of A-PHY products. Additionally, this testing marks the accelerated penetration of A-PHY technology in the global automotive market.

MIPI A-PHY is the first in-vehicle asymmetric high-speed connectivity standard in the automotive industry. As a leader in this standard, Valens has not only launched compliant chipsets but has also secured multiple project designations from various OEMs.

Achieving interoperability is a critical milestone in the process of establishing industry standards, and this milestone has been made possible by the support of a strong ecosystem. The establishment of such standards will enhance supply chain security and reduce reliance on vendor pricing. During several weeks of interoperability testing covering multiple activities, Valens successfully established A-PHY links with all suppliers, demonstrating the high maturity of A-PHY chip products.

Adar Segal

Head of Automotive Business, Valens

“MIPI A-PHY has strong momentum globally, and we are particularly excited about its performance in the Chinese market. The ecosystem in China has been seeking new technologies that can drive the development of advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving systems, and is flexible enough to quickly adopt these technologies. This multi-vendor participation event marks the latest progress in establishing the A-PHY standard as a dominant force in China and globally.”

Peter Lefkin

Executive Director, MIPI Alliance

“This multi-vendor interoperability testing further demonstrates the growing maturity of the A-PHY ecosystem. These tests complement the MIPI A-PHY compliance program, which will enable system designers to validate their A-PHY devices. These initiatives work in concert to represent an important milestone and signal for automotive companies, indicating that the MIPI Alliance is delivering on its commitment to develop the strongest automotive serializer/deserializer standard.”

China is becoming a frontier for the application of A-PHY technology. From platform system providers, SoC design companies to camera sensor manufacturers, as well as IP and development tool suppliers, local companies have built an A-PHY product matrix that precisely meets the market demand of domestic OEMs for this connectivity standard.

Zhang Xiaoping

Technical Assistant to the CEO, Analogix

“The momentum of MIPI A-PHY should not be underestimated, especially in China, where OEMs can quickly adopt innovative technologies. Many OEMs and tier-one suppliers in China are interested in this technology.”

Mary

Co-CTO, ISEE Technology Group

“We are very grateful to Valens for successfully hosting this interoperability testing event, which showcased the strong and mature ecosystem of A-PHY suppliers. Our A-PHY chips are performing excellently, and we look forward to entering the mass production phase.”

Lu Jianxin

Marketing Director, Yutai Microelectronics

“Our A-PHY chips have achieved interoperability with Valens’ A-PHY chips at high bandwidth, and the performance is flawless. We hope the A-PHY ecosystem can continue to thrive, with more OEMs and tier-one suppliers adopting this standard.”

OmniVision is developing a sensor integrated with A-PHY, which will achieve a more compact design, lower power consumption, and cost. Sensor integration can only be realized through standardized solutions, especially MIPI A-PHY, which was designed from the outset to simplify such integration with compact, low-power serializers and high-performance deserializers.

Fan Heng

Senior Director of Design, OmniVision

“OmniVision is committed to driving innovation in automotive imaging, integrating MIPI A-PHY directly into our sensors, bringing tremendous value to our OEM customers and partners.”

Du Anjin

Product Line Manager, Silergy

“We are confident that this successful interoperability test is just the beginning for A-PHY technology; the advantages of A-PHY technology, such as being the first industry standard, a true ecosystem, using lightweight cables to reduce system costs, and excellent noise cancellation and correction technology, have been recognized by customers, and we will soon see it widely adopted in the global automotive industry.”

Lu Kai

Co-founder and Vice President, Chipset Technology

“We started developing this product based on real market demand and invested significant resources to ensure it can be brought to market as soon as possible.”

Chen Jikai

CTO, ShouChuan Microelectronics

“We founded the company because of A-PHY. Dedicated SerDes solutions are not conducive to OEM cost control and supply chain security, while MIPI A-PHY, as the world’s first automotive SerDes standard, addresses these issues and prompted us to establish this company.”
