With the development of the economy and society, the proportion of quantitatively packaged products in the market is increasing. For instance, most food and cosmetics closely related to consumer interests are quantitatively packaged products. The state implements the ‘C’ mark system for quantitatively packaged products.
The Meaning and Role of the ‘C’ Mark
When consumers purchase quantitatively packaged products, they cannot weigh them directly and cannot determine whether the quantity is sufficient. The metrology guarantee capability qualification mark, the ‘C’ mark, provides a safeguard for your consumption. The ‘C’ mark is a qualification mark for the metrology guarantee capability of production enterprises of quantitatively packaged products, and products that pass certification and affix the ‘C’ mark indicate that their net content is guaranteed, allowing consumers to confidently purchase sufficient products.

The ‘C’ Mark is a qualification mark for metrology guarantee capability, with the outer edge in the shape of a regular octagon and the inner edge in the shape of a square. The management of the ‘C’ mark is a new type of supervision and management method for the metrology status of quantitatively packaged products. Once a production enterprise passes the evaluation of metrology guarantee capability, it can use this mark on its quantitatively packaged products, which is generally printed in front of the net content marked on the quantitatively packaged product, indicating that the quantity of the product is sufficient. The validity period of the metrology guarantee capability certificate is three years, and unregistered enterprises are not allowed to use the ‘C’ mark for metrology guarantee capability on quantitatively packaged products.

Content to Be Marked on the Outer Packaging of Quantitatively Packaged Products
The outer packaging of quantitatively packaged products should clearly and correctly indicate the net content, which is the actual weight of the contents after removing the packaging container and other packaging materials. Additionally, multi-pack products should indicate the net content of each individually packaged product and the total number of items, or indicate the net content and total number of items, and bundled products should indicate the net content of various different types of products.

Difference Between Quantitatively Packaged Products and Pre-packaged Products
“Quantitatively packaged products” refer to pre-packaged products that have uniform quality, volume, length, area, and quantity markings within a certain range for the purpose of sale.
“Pre-packaged products” refer to products that are packaged in advance using packaging materials or containers and have predetermined quantities (or amounts) before sale.
“Quantitatively packaged products” are a type of “pre-packaged products”, where the contents of each package of “pre-packaged products” can vary, while “quantitatively packaged products” require that the net content of each package is exactly the same.
