Three Questions About Xiaomi YU7: Pre-orders, Range, and Chipset

The so-called pre-order data publicity from Chinese new energy vehicle companies has become a joke!

Xiaomi YU7 announced 289,000 pre-orders in just one hour.

Three Questions About Xiaomi YU7: Pre-orders, Range, and Chipset

I just want to ask, all those who only announce how many units they have pre-ordered,

without providing actual evidence, what credibility do they have?

Next time, can a car company just announce they have pre-ordered 100 million units in one minute?

Besides that, I have three questions:

1. Why did some media release the pre-order data for Xiaomi YU7 in advance?

Xiaomi YU7 started pre-orders at 10 PM on June 26,

but it was reported that a certain media outlet released the data of 289,000 pre-orders at 7:31 PM.

Three Questions About Xiaomi YU7: Pre-orders, Range, and Chipset

Did they prepare the press release in advance for the media,

or did someone maliciously edit the image? Why not come out and explain?

YU7 is constantly benchmarking against the Tesla Model Y,

but Tesla never promotes so-called pre-order data,

only disclosing delivery data.

Currently, YU7 owners have to wait 57 to 60 weeks to receive their cars,

That’s over a year.

Instead of promoting pre-order data, can you improve delivery capabilities?

2. Why does the standard version of YU7 state a range of 835 kilometers,

but the small print says “The background vehicle image is for advertising purposes and is not related to the range data shown”?

Is this similar to “0 additive soy sauce” where “0 additive” is just a trademark?

Your energy consumption is stated as 13.3 kWh per 100 kilometers,

96.3 kWh should yield a range of 724 kilometers,

so how did you arrive at 835 kilometers?

The YU7 is 400 kilograms heavier than the Tesla Model Y,

and the rear-wheel-drive version has 33.8 kWh more battery than the Model Y rear-wheel-drive version,

which I can tentatively believe adds 242 kilometers of range,

but the all-wheel-drive version has only 17.9 kWh more than the Model Y all-wheel-drive version,

yet the range only increases by 51 kilometers.

How do you explain this data?

3. Why use consumer-grade chips instead of automotive-grade chips?

Is it because consumer-grade chips only cost one or two thousand yuan each,

while automotive-grade chips cost 8,000 yuan each?

Back then, Tesla also used consumer-grade chips instead of automotive-grade chips,

but why did Tesla experience overheating issues, frequent black screens,

and recall over 100,000 vehicles in 2022?

Yet YU7 still insists on using consumer-grade chips?

If the YU7 experiences a black screen or crashes in the future,

and the reversing camera and gear display do not show,

who will be responsible if an accident occurs?

Will there be a recall then?

Or am I overthinking this?
