This year’s government work report proposed to continue promoting the “Artificial Intelligence + ” initiative, better integrating digital technology with manufacturing advantages and market advantages to support large-scale and widespread applications. This is the second time that “Artificial Intelligence + ” has been included in the government work report. Unlike last year, which focused on technological research and industrial cluster development, this year’s emphasis is more on the practical application of technology, directing the focus of artificial intelligence applications towards the manufacturing industry.
In the era of “AI (Artificial Intelligence) +”, the global industrial chain is being restructured, forcing traditional manufacturing to seek transformative breakthroughs. Industrial AI Agents, capable of perceiving the environment, autonomously understanding, making decisions, and executing actions, reveal a new direction for future industrial manufacturing and are considered key to changing the “game rules”. Research institutions believe that the field of vertical AI agents will welcome a blue ocean market, with significant market growth expected in the next three years.

Flexible manufacturing is becoming simpler
With the rise of Industry 4.0, flexible manufacturing is becoming an important trend in the development of the manufacturing industry. Flexible production not only requires production lines to be able to flexibly adjust product types but also needs to quickly adapt to external changes during the production process. Industrial AI Agents can optimize production plans and scheduling in real-time through precise data analysis and intelligent decision-making, enabling production lines to efficiently respond to market changes, making flexible manufacturing “simpler”.
Imagine that when a new production task is received, engineers no longer need to perform complex programming and design; they can simply issue instructions in natural language, and the entire production line can quickly and automatically switch modes, achieving seamless transitions between different processes. By analyzing historical production data, it can even identify that a certain production link has high energy consumption and automatically adjust the parameters of that link to reduce energy consumption. Such an industrial AI Agent may completely break through the traditional production line’s challenges of “difficult mode switching, slow response, and high costs”.
For example, the self-developed industrial AI Agent by Jing Shi Measurement and Control—PRIME can achieve direct control of industrial equipment through natural language interaction. With continuous technological iteration, PRIME can even integrate different industrial platforms and dynamically adjust production parameters based on real-time data. It is reported that a leading home appliance brand has optimized its production line through PRIME, achieving a 30% reduction in energy consumption while improving testing efficiency.
“Through the PRIME AI Agent, natural language can be efficiently transformed into precise control and execution of engineering objects such as industrial controllers, testing and measuring instruments, and actuators, enabling more people to easily master the development capabilities of engineering applications, thereby enhancing the efficiency of innovation in the engineering industry,” said Wang Lei, Chairman of Jing Shi Measurement and Control. “The advancement of AI technology has reduced the difficulty and learning costs of using advanced tools, allowing more people to apply engineering technology to solve problems in the innovation process.”

Heilong Technology empowers industrial production through AI Agents
Heilong Technology is also exploring the practical application of AI Agents in industrial scenarios: replacing manual experience with AI Agents to automatically analyze CAD drawings, generate process paths, replace manual scheduling and dispatching, reducing process preparation time by 60%; using distributed Agents to take over the coordination work of order-followers, achieving a threefold increase in production scheduling response speed in a certain food company in China; building a central system supported by natural language interaction with ChatBI, where inputting “Which production lines have gaps next Wednesday” triggers the generation of multi-dimensional reports, customizing different report contents based on role requirements; launching an AI-based development system that realizes cloud-based production management software + customized AI processes, gradually replacing traditional production management software, solving the contradiction between general and personalized needs, and shortening the development time from the original 1-2 months to 1-2 days.
“New technologies bring more new opportunities. With the support of new technologies, we can definitely solve more scene problems,” said Zhou Yuxiang, founder and CEO of Heilong Technology. The practical application of industrial AI Agents will provide feasible paths for industrial enterprises eager to accelerate their transformation towards flexible manufacturing.
The human-machine collaboration model will be completely overturned
Unlike traditional artificial intelligence, the core breakthrough of AI Agents is their ability to independently think and use tools to gradually achieve given goals. Specifically in industrial scenarios, intelligent systems with autonomous perception, decision-making, execution, and feedback capabilities will completely overturn the human-machine interaction model, opening a new paradigm for industrial production.
For decades, industrial solution providers have been trying to use data and AI to optimize production, minimize disruption risks, simplify production, and make smarter daily decisions. However, so far, the impact on factory floor operations has been less than satisfactory. The way users interact with digitally enhanced industrial processes is not intuitive, making it challenging to improve key workflows and achieve productivity gains.
As a carrier of generative AI technology, industrial AI Agents play a key role in improving operational efficiency, maintaining production process stability, and optimizing production outcomes through intelligent data analysis and decision-making functions. As early as 2024, Tesla’s Optimus robot completed a disruptive upgrade: when engineers issued a vague instruction to “organize the laboratory”, its built-in AI Agent autonomously identified 23 types of experimental equipment, planned a transportation path that balanced safety and efficiency, and even discovered potential hazards in the placement of centrifuges during operation and proactively issued warnings. This marks a leap in AI Agents from “passive execution” to “active cognition” capabilities.

Tesla’s robot factory
Now, as the capabilities of AI Agents continue to evolve, their application boundaries in industrial scenarios are also expanding. At Thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering, the innovative application of Siemens’ industrial AI Agents has improved code quality by 30% and accelerated development speed by 45%. At Siemens’ Bad Neustadt factory, the time to transform scattered data into decision insights has been reduced to one-sixth of the original.
“AI Agents will reconstruct the human-machine interaction model,” said Zou Debao, Executive Deputy General Manager of the AI and Big Data Research Center at CCID Consulting. “At this stage, AI Agents have been initially applied in task solving, service creation, and intelligent customer service scenarios. In the future, with the development of technologies such as interface alignment, complex task planning, and working memory, the application scenarios of AI Agents will continue to expand, and the way humans interact with machines will shift from traditional graphical interfaces to more natural human-machine interactions.”
Multi-Agent collaboration is becoming a new trend
Although the wave of digital transformation has swept through the industrial sector for over a decade, most factory systems remain at the stage of “automation rather than intelligence”. While sensors, PLCs, MES, cloud platforms, and other components are all available, the systems are still fragmented, making it difficult to understand the collected data, and while algorithms can run, they cannot adapt to changes, making it challenging to truly achieve a closed-loop intelligence of “perception-cognition-decision”.
The core value of industrial AI Agents lies not only in global intelligent optimization but also in awakening the “thinking genes” of every process and every piece of equipment, allowing micro-production units to evolve into intelligent decision-making entities. Faced with the high complexity and uncertainty of multi-process collaboration in industrial manufacturing, multi-Agent collaboration will become a new trend in the development of industrial AI.
It is reported that Hengyuan Technology is exploring the construction of a Multi-Agent intelligent collaboration network composed of Agent clusters with autonomous decision-making capabilities, where each Agent focuses on specific production links: production scheduling Agents dynamically optimize work order allocation, logistics Agents intelligently plan delivery paths, and quality Agents monitor key processes in real-time.
When urgent orders are inserted or equipment anomalies occur, each Agent attempts to complete capacity redistribution and process parameter calibration within milliseconds through distributed negotiation algorithms. This decentralized intelligent collaboration model is breaking the limitations of traditional MES systems’ centralized control, exploring the formation of a “self-organizing, self-optimizing” production ecology, and providing systematic solutions for dynamic decision-making in complex scenarios.

Siemens develops AI Agents for industrial automation
Siemens recently launched a new type of industrial AI Agent to enhance its industrial co-pilot system (Siemens Industrial Copilot), which is expected to help industrial enterprises increase production efficiency by up to 50%. Unlike traditional AI assistants that can only passively respond to commands, Siemens’ industrial AI Agent has autonomous neural central functions, and its core “intelligent conductor” system can flexibly schedule various specialized AI Agents to work together like an experienced craftsman.
To further promote application and innovation, Siemens plans to create an industrial AI Agent marketplace on its Xcelerator Marketplace. In this marketplace, customers can not only access Siemens’ own AI Agents but also use AI Agents developed by third parties. In the future, this marketplace may develop into an “APP Store” for the industrial sector, gathering the world’s top manufacturing intelligence solutions.
Rainer Brehm, CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Group’s Factory Automation, stated: “In factory scenarios, our industrial AI agents can connect various functional collaborative assistants to automate the operation of the entire value chain workflow. This innovative model builds a standardized application system, ensuring that regardless of the practitioner’s technical proficiency or experience, they can easily apply industrial AI technology.” He also expressed that Siemens looks forward to the future where industrial AI agents can seamlessly collaborate with workers, autonomously taking on routine workflows, thereby freeing up human resources to focus on innovative research and development, creative design, and solving complex problems.
