Successful Tape-Out of Loongson’s New Processor

Recently, the Loongson 2K3000 processor (also known as 3B6000M) successfully completed its tape-out, and has undergone preliminary functional and performance evaluations, with all indicators meeting the expected targets.

The Loongson 2K3000 and 3B6000M are based on the same silicon wafer but utilize different packaging forms, designed respectively for industrial control applications and mobile terminal markets.

Successful Tape-Out of Loongson's New Processor

This processor integrates 8 LA364E processor cores, achieving a single-core fixed-point score of 30 points in the SPEC CPU 2006 Base benchmark at a clock frequency of 2.5GHz, demonstrating its exceptional processing capability.

Additionally, this chip is equipped with a new generation of self-developed general-purpose graphics processor, the LG200 core, which has significantly improved graphics processing performance compared to the GPU core in the previous generation product, the Loongson 2K2000.

Besides supporting graphics acceleration, the LG200 also provides general computing acceleration and AI acceleration capabilities, with a peak performance of 256 GFLOPS for single-precision floating-point operations and up to 8 TOPS for 8-bit fixed-point operations.

Currently, the computing framework and related AI acceleration software for this chip have completed preliminary testing, and the supporting software system is continuously being improved. Dozens of companies engaged in industrial control and information technology have begun to apply this chip in their product designs.

The successful tape-out of this new processor marks that Loongson Technology has fully mastered the design of key core technologies, including general-purpose processors, graphics processors, and AI processors, after more than twenty years of technological accumulation, as well as the design of foundational software.
