Recently, the East Community Branch of the Nanxiang Town Library has launched as the first smart reading space pilot for seniors in the district, open to the public. According to reports, this library deeply integrates technological elements, closely adhering to the core theme of “empowering library services with technology,” and has meticulously created four major “smart reading scenarios for seniors,” providing elderly readers with a more convenient, engaging, and technologically enriched reading experience.
Smart Senior-Friendly Scenario: Upon entering the library, visitors are greeted by an intelligent guide robot that not only engages in fun conversations with elderly readers but also provides weather forecasts, indoor navigation, and other thoughtful services, making the reading journey enjoyable and allowing seniors to easily enjoy the conveniences brought by artificial intelligence.
Smart Assistance Scenario: In the borrowing area, a mechanical dog carrying a book basket has become a new highlight. Controlled by volunteers, it follows elderly readers to transport books, adding fun to the borrowing process and showcasing the charm of technology in everyday life.
Smart Reading Benefits Scenario: In the leisure reading area, elderly readers can engage in a strategic duel with an AI chess robot, experiencing the joy of playing chess with an intelligent robot, which not only exercises their thinking abilities but also enhances their memory. Technology and culture achieve perfect integration on this small chessboard.
Smart Fun Companionship Scenario:: A series of smart devices, including desktop intelligent robots and electronic visual aids, await exploration by elderly readers. The desktop intelligent robot can engage in voice communication with readers, provide companionship, report hot news, weather information, and even sing and dance, adding endless fun to the lives of seniors; the electronic visual aid helps elderly readers easily read by scanning and enlarging book text, addressing reading difficulties.
