In recent years, Xintang Village in Dayan Township has focused on implementing the rural revitalization strategy, continuously enriching the under-forest economic industry chain, and aiming to build a “Sweet Town” as its development direction. This has further enhanced the village’s collective revenue capacity, increased the income of the people, and transformed the green mountains and clear waters into visible “gold and silver mountains” for the community.

At the Gu Gong Zhong bee breeding base in Xintang Village, reporters observed that beehives were neatly arranged in the woods, with the enticing aroma of golden honey wafting from the hives. In 2022, Xintang Village utilized the local hundred-acre osmanthus forest, wildflowers at the village’s edge, and fruit tree blossoms as high-quality nectar sources. They established the Gu Gong Zhong bee breeding base through investment attraction, developing the beekeeping industry. The total investment for the project is 3.5 million yuan, and the construction of the bee industry training center and the supporting 400 beehives and 500 meters of beekeeping park road has been completed.

“After the infrastructure was completed, our entire team moved in and began constructing some soft facilities, including training for beekeeping. On the Douyin platform, we started in September 2022, and as of now, we have exceeded 30,000 sales orders, with sales revenue around 4 to 5 million yuan. Our goal this year is to achieve a sales revenue of 10 million yuan.”
To address the lack of flowering sources for bees in winter, Xintang Village has introduced Anhui Shouxian Hu Ecological Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. to plant loquat trees that bloom in winter. After several years of development, the area planted with loquat trees has expanded to 370 acres, and the first batch of loquat trees is now bearing fruit and will soon be on the market. This initiative not only solves the problem of bees having no flowers to forage in winter but also adds a new source of income from fruit trees for the local community.
Lu Wenqiang, Manager of Anhui Shouxian Hu Ecological Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd.
“Bees have greatly increased our pollination rate. An increase in the pollination rate means that our future fruit-bearing rate will also increase. Due to last year’s cold wave, the fruit-bearing rate was somewhat reduced, but currently, based on the growth status, we are confident that we can achieve a yield of 1,000 pounds per acre, totaling around 100,000 pounds. Given the current market conditions, our profits are quite considerable.”
Currently, Xintang Village in Dayan Township is developing towards the construction of a “Sweet Town” by adopting a model of “village collective + company + farmers”. They are gradually expanding the scale of planting and breeding, creating over 300 job opportunities annually for the village, with an average annual income increase of 5,000 yuan per person. At the same time, the village is revitalizing idle school buildings and constructing deep processing factories. Through factory leasing, equity dividends, and self-production and sales, the village can generate tens of thousands of yuan in economic income for the collective each year. In the future, Xintang Village will integrate its beekeeping base, loquat orchards, and surrounding fruit trees and flowers into unique tourist attractions, promoting the integration of agriculture and tourism, and further expanding its revenue capacity.
Tang Hongying, Secretary of the Party Branch and Director of the Village Committee of Xintang Village
“We fully utilize our ecological resource advantages, leverage the positive effects of circular agriculture, and build a virtuous agricultural ecological industry chain to achieve coordinated development of social, economic, and ecological benefits, contributing to rural revitalization.”
