19/20MIT Team Launches First Chip-Level 3D Printer: Smaller than a Coin
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Texas at Austin have jointly developed the world’s first prototype chip-level 3D printer. The related results have been published in a sub-journal of “Nature”, and the team will next develop a photonic chip system capable of single-step holographic curing.
According to reports, the prototype chip is equipped with a 160-nanometer thick optical antenna (ordinary paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick), and its overall size is even smaller than a 25-cent coin, capable of emitting reconfigurable beams through a millimeter-scale photonic chip, allowing resin to rapidly cure under visible light wavelengths.
This proof-of-concept device consists of a single photonic chip with no moving parts. The surface of the chip integrates a micron-level optical antenna array, controlling the light beam into a specially designed resin tank.

Recently, South Korea’s leading wire and cable manufacturer LS Cable & System announced that it has won a high voltage cable contract worth 147.7 billion won (approximately 108.3 million USD) in Singapore.
Previously, the company signed a contract worth 201.5 billion won with Singapore’s state-owned electricity transmission and supply agency, Singapore Energy Group, in April. The company stated that it will provide 230 kV cables and related equipment for the Singapore grid project by January 2033.
