Apple is set to continue releasing news about its small-sized iPhone, and there have been numerous reports flooding in. However, there is currently controversy surrounding the naming convention for the next generation of iPhones. Some media outlets suggest that the next new iPhone will be named iPhone 9, while others claim it will be named iPhone SE 2. Foreign media has released a set of concept renderings of the iPhone SE 2, which show that the notch display has been eliminated, but the rear camera features a dual-lens design, indicating it might be the successor to the iPhone XR.
The iPhone SE 2 adopts a full-screen design and does not feature the traditional notch design of previous iPhones. The design philosophy behind the iPhone SE 2 is to completely abandon the notch. However, despite the absence of the notch, there are still many design aspects worth looking forward to, such as how the front camera and facial recognition module will be positioned, which is of great concern to the public.
The top and surrounding bezels of the iPhone SE 2 are relatively wide, with the top bezel being the widest. The front camera and facial recognition module are all hidden beneath the screen. The wider bezels are expected, considering the iPhone SE 2’s lower price point, which naturally leads to lower production costs. It is also reasonable that the iPhone SE 2 will not adopt COF packaging.
To boost sales or to make consumers more fond of the iPhone SE 2, Apple has designed six color combinations for the device. This design may remind people of the iPhone 5C, which also launched in multiple colors but had average sales. Whether the iPhone SE 2 can break free from limitations and become a hot-selling model again due to its vibrant colors remains uncertain.
The rear camera of the iPhone SE 2 features a dual-lens design and does not adopt the rumored single-lens design. The iPhone SE 2 does not use a lens module design but rather directly integrates two rear cameras into the body, with the camera glass lens covered by the body glass. Despite its lower price, the hardware specifications of the iPhone SE 2’s rear camera remain consistent with those of standard iPhone flagship models, except for the number of lenses.
Similarly, due to its lower price, it is unlikely that the latest hardware processors, such as the A14 chip, will be used. Instead, the A13 processor will likely be used, and wireless charging technology may also not be included. Adding more configurations would increase costs, and therefore, minimizing high-end hardware specifications is a primary principle.
Currently, there are rumors that the price of the iPhone SE 2 will not exceed 4000 yuan, which means it will directly compete with phones from Xiaomi and Huawei. So if the iPhone SE 2 is released according to the design shown in the concept renderings, would you support and purchase it?
Finally, everyone can take a look at the concept rendering video shared by well-known foreign leaker @BenGeskin, which features Apple’s 2020 model. There will be surprises at the end.
