Product Introduction
ITTIA DB Lite is a high-performance embedded transactional and time-series database that natively supports eMMC (embedded multimedia card), SD cards, NOR (non-volatile random access memory), and NAND flash memory. It is designed for real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal applications to facilitate data streaming, analysis, and storage on edge microcontroller (MCU) devices.
ITTIA DB Lite features hard real-time determinism, enabling it to perform data allocation tasks under strict timing constraints. Its unique wear-leveling algorithm distributes write operations across different memory blocks, minimizing the risk of failure in any single block. The concurrency mechanism of ITTIA DB Lite allows multiple tasks to share high-speed read and write performance.
ITTIA’s Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) complies with the IEC 62443-2 security standard, ensuring the security of data both at rest and in transit.
ITTIA DB Lite can also handle real-time data ingestion of thousands of events per second, allowing applications to respond quickly to changes in data. This feature makes ITTIA DB Lite particularly suitable for real-time analytics and monitoring.
ITTIA DB Lite integrates three engines: a transactional storage engine, a time-series storage engine, and a stream processing pipeline.Through ITTIA Analitica, developers can interactively design data models and connect to ITTIA DB Lite for visualization via ITTIA Data Connect.

Transactional Storage
The ITTIA DB Lite transactional engine is integrated into device applications for real-time data ingestion and additional data storage on flash media. High-performance deterministic queries can be executed across multiple cores, aggregating data from various devices.
The ITTIA DB Lite transactional engine provides a way to structure embedded system data into tables, rows, and columns, offering a modern approach to establish data relationships through table joins, facilitating insights into data relationships. Its advantages include data integrity and accuracy, reduced data redundancy, and table join functionalities.

ITTIA DB Lite is designed for microcontrollers, providing high-performance data management. It has a compact footprint, delivering high throughput and low latency, capable of handling thousands of events per second for real-time data ingestion, allowing microcontroller applications to respond quickly to data changes. This feature makes ITTIA DB Lite equally suitable for real-time analytics and monitoring.
Garbage Collection
ITTIA DB Lite employs a unique algorithm, including a garbage collection phase, to detect database usage in flash media and rotate data blocks to prevent fragmentation. The garbage collection mechanism of ITTIA DB Lite automatically deletes unused and outdated data, reclaiming flash space to ensure efficient data storage.
Wear Leveling
The wear leveling design of ITTIA DB Lite is aimed at ensuring even wear distribution across flash memory units to prevent block failures. This is achieved by ensuring that erase and rewrite operations are evenly distributed across the media, preventing any single block from being written to frequently.
ACIDProperties
ITTIA DB Lite fully complies with ACID properties (including Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability), ensuring the reliability of database transactions.
Power Failure Recovery
ITTIA DB Lite is designed to protect data from power failure impacts. In the event of a sudden power loss, ITTIA DB Lite can recover all committed data and prevent incomplete transactions from corrupting or losing the original stored real-time data.

Time-Series Engine
ITTIA DB Lite features a class of prioritized time-series data types optimized for ingesting and querying timestamped data points, where the time element serves as the primary key for efficient access and analysis.
ITTIA DB Lite’s high write throughput can handle large volumes of data while maintaining a consistent structure, supporting rapid aggregation and trend analysis. Due to a high write-to-read ratio, time-series data is continuously written, while query frequency is lower.
