3D printing technology, as an emerging technology in the field of rapid prototyping, is a highly potential and rapidly developing technology that has been widely applied in various fields such as industrial modeling, machinery manufacturing, aerospace, military, construction, medicine, archaeology, cultural arts, sculpture, and jewelry. Since 1991, China has started researching 3D printing technology, initially known as rapid prototyping technology, mainly applied in vocational technical training and higher education. After 2000, universities such as Tsinghua University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Xi’an Jiaotong University continued to research 3D printing technology. Xi’an Jiaotong University focuses on applications, producing molds and aerospace components; Huazhong University of Science and Technology has developed various 3D printing devices; Tsinghua University has shifted its research focus to the field of biomanufacturing after transferring rapid prototyping technology to enterprises.
1. Curriculum and Educational Conditions
The curriculum is designed to train students to quickly adapt to the needs of relevant enterprises or to engage in related professional work independently. The main courses focus on professional applications, supplemented by basic theory, including: mechanical drawing, computer-aided design (Autodesk 123D, Solid Works, 3D Studio Max), computer post-processing (Cura, Simplify 3D), reverse modeling, rapid product representation techniques, 3D data processing, 3D scanning technology, and comprehensive training in 3D printing.
