Remarkable Achievements
In the galaxy of knowledge, the light of exploration has always been so dazzling. Recently, Hefei No. 168 Middle School successfully held a research-based learning defense activity, akin to a feast of knowledge, allowing students to freely swim in the ocean of academia, showcasing their wisdom and innovation. This defense was conducted in three orderly groups, where each group of students displayed their talents, presenting a wonderful competition of creativity and scholarship.
At the defense site of the Natural Science and Chemistry group, students fully demonstrated their keen observation and deep thinking about life and science. They created homemade leaf vein bookmarks, presenting the leaf’s veins clearly through clever design, which was not only a craft project but also an exploration of plant structure and chemical principles. During the process of making homemade perfume and fruit wine, students delved into the mysteries of organic chemistry, using scientific methods to blend unique fragrances and flavors; regarding whether pure water is truly pure, they employed chemical analysis methods to uncover the scientific principles behind natural phenomena, allowing students to appreciate the charm of science through practice.
The defense site of the Humanities and Social Sciences group was equally exciting. The research themed “The Three Kingdoms in Hefei” saw students deeply excavating Hefei’s historical culture, exploring the intricate connections between this city and the Three Kingdoms period, as if traveling through time to recreate that tumultuous history; surrounding the research on “The Character Traits Reflected in the Poetry of ‘Dream of the Red Chamber'”, students analyzed character traits from the lines of poetry, showcasing their profound understanding and unique insights into classical literature, drawing wisdom from the ocean of traditional culture and experiencing the vastness of Chinese culture.
The students from the Comprehensive Practice and Mathematics-Physics group fully utilized their innovative spirit and practical abilities, combining theoretical knowledge with practical operations. Projects like homemade water rockets, homemade drones, and homemade electromagnetic catapult aircraft carriers not only tested the students’ grasp of physical principles but also honed their hands-on skills and teamwork spirit. From design drawings to production and debugging, every step embodied the students’ wisdom and effort, witnessing the practical value of scientific theory through repeated launch experiments.
This research-based learning defense activity not only enriched the students’ knowledge reserves but also greatly cultivated their spirit of inquiry. In the process of exploring topics, students learned to pose questions and solve problems, continuously researching and gradually enhancing their research capabilities. At the same time, these interesting and challenging topics also sparked students’ strong interest in learning, allowing them to truly experience the joy and value of learning.
