Broadcasting Authority: Prevent Over-Entertainment and Anti-Intellectual Trends in Short Dramas
Recently, news from the “Broadcasting Industry” public account of the China News Publishing Media Group revealed that the National Radio and Television Administration’s Network Audio-Visual Program Management Department issued a management notice, emphasizing the need to firmly prevent extreme “anti-intellectual”, “ridiculous”, and “absurd” character and plot tendencies in short dramas.
The Broadcasting Authority pointed out that in recent years, the creation of short dramas has shown a good creative trend, with both horizontal and vertical short dramas demonstrating positive energy expressions and styles that are uplifting, good, and beautiful. This is not unrelated to the series of measures taken by the Broadcasting Authority to promote quality creation.
The management notice also pointed out that a few vertical short drama production organizations and broadcasting platforms have resorted to bizarre and risky tactics to create so-called “hit shows”, leading to signs of excessive entertainment. Some short dramas even use artistic imagination as a pretext to recklessly weave and arbitrarily deconstruct reality and logic, even trivializing, infantilizing, and anti-intellectualizing, which affects the good image established by the short drama industry.
The management notice requires that to maintain a good ecology for short dramas and promote the stable and long-term development of the industry, broadcasting management departments at all levels must implement supervisory responsibilities, and market entities in the short drama industry must fulfill their responsibilities for broadcasting, production, and promotion, firmly uphold the bottom line of artistic creation, and resolutely prevent extreme “anti-intellectual”, “ridiculous”, and “absurd” character and plot tendencies.

Phone Card Suspended After Slow Recharge
On July 13, news reported that “slow recharge for phone bills, 95% off, fastest 24 hours to arrive”, “slow recharge for phone bills, recharge 200 yuan to receive 250 yuan, arrives within three days”. The WeChat 110 official account published an article on July 11, reminding users to be wary of new fraud methods.
Criminals post advertisements for “low-cost phone bills” and “low-cost slow recharge” on online platforms, using high discount rates as bait to attract victims to place orders for recharges.
After receiving user recharge orders, the merchants will pass the orders to higher-level agents and deduct the corresponding commission from the user’s payment. This process continues through several agents until the funds reach the fraud group’s system, which then uses the stolen funds to recharge the users, completing the entire money laundering process.
It is important to note that users participating in slow recharge may have their phone cards suspended due to involvement in the money laundering activities of criminals; if users continue to participate in such slow recharges knowing they are a money laundering method, they may be held legally responsible for constituting “aiding and abetting” crimes.

Finally, it has been regulated
Elon Musk Denies xAI is Raising Funds at a $200 Billion Valuation
On July 13, news reported that Bloomberg cited insiders saying that Elon Musk’s company xAI is negotiating a new round of financing, with a valuation of up to $200 billion.
It is said that the company has recently completed $10 billion in financing (with debt and equity each accounting for half) and is currently advancing an additional $10 billion financing plan. If the $200 billion valuation is achieved, the new entity formed by the merger of X and xAI will become one of the highest-valued private companies in the world.
However, Musk posted on X stating that “xAI is not currently seeking financing; we have sufficient funds.” The xAI representative did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Bloomberg previously reported that if this round of financing is successful, xAI will receive a total of $20 billion in new funding support, which is a target discussed internally by the company. Insiders indicated that xAI specifically waited until the new model Grok 4 was released before advancing this financing.

GlobalFoundries Responds to MIPS Acquisition
On July 13, news reported that technology media Tom’s Hardware published a blog stating that GlobalFoundries responded that the company has no intention of becoming an integrated device manufacturer, but will provide ready-made computing IP to accelerate its customers’ product launch speed.
Previous reports indicated that GlobalFoundries had reached a final agreement to acquire MIPS, which was interpreted by the outside world as GlobalFoundries possibly adjusting its strategy to start producing processors itself, thus competing with some customers. GlobalFoundries’ communications director Erica McGill stated: “The acquisition of MIPS will enhance GlobalFoundries’ capabilities to better provide customers with more complete and differentiated products.”
This move will make GlobalFoundries a more strategic partner, providing not only manufacturing services but also foundational computing technologies to help customers build smarter, faster, and more efficient products.
A spokesperson for GlobalFoundries stated: “We remain a pure foundry focused on helping customers build world-class products on our platform. This acquisition expands our capabilities to better support non-fabless customers, especially those developing silicon for the first time or seeking vertical integration.”

MIPS is done for, bought as a family heirloom?
