Ongoing Research – Focus on the Kraken Project
– Exploring the Underwater World from the Surface with a Catamaran Robot
Underwater mapping can address seabed research issues, thereby enhancing the understanding of biodiversity and topography. Professors in the exploration robotics research team are currently investigating a new solution for mapping shallow water areas, such as mountainous lakes or coastal regions. To this end, they are developing tools for capturing underwater images, which will then be analyzed by research institutions. The first step of this multi-year project is to successfully map the seabed using a portable catamaran named “Kraken” from the sea surface.
