Shantou Ultrasonic Display Technology Co., Ltd.’s automotive touchscreen development and process innovation team was established in 2016, led by Mr. Zhu Shijian, with 44 current members. The team is dedicated to developing highly reliable and high-performance capacitive touch products for automotive applications that meet the high requirements of automotive development trends and ensure driving safety and comfort.
As the intelligent transformation of the automotive industry accelerates, Shantou Ultrasonic Display Technology Co., Ltd., the world’s largest supplier of high-end automotive touchscreens, actively responds to the national strategy for the innovative development of smart vehicles. In 2016, the “Automotive Touchscreen Development and Process Innovation Team” (hereinafter referred to as the “team”) was formed to continuously overcome multiple key technologies, pioneering Chinese products in leading international automotive electronic components. Recently, this team, a leader in the high-quality development of the electronic information industry, was awarded the “National Worker Pioneer” title, contributing to Shantou’s path of “Industrial City, Strong Industry” with practical actions.

In a manufacturing enterprise driven by independent innovation, the team, through relentless efforts and breakthroughs, leads the company and the Chinese touchscreen industry in comprehensive transformation and upgrading. “What impressed me the most was when the team received an order for the manufacturing of a curved cover plate with edge-aligned functional film. This is considered a technical difficulty in the industry, and there was no existing automated equipment to produce it. To assist an important customer in exploring new markets and meet the rapid delivery needs, the team members decided to face the challenge head-on.” Team leader and Manufacturing Department Manager of Shantou Ultrasonic Display Technology Co., Ltd., Zhu Shijian, recalled that the team organized multiple meetings for discussions, spending weeks validating on the production line, even turning the nearby rice noodle soup shop into a second discussion venue after overtime. Fortunately, everyone’s efforts paid off, and the team successfully completed the task with an innovative solution, receiving high praise from the customer.
The team plays a “core axis” role in the development of the enterprise, and through their silent dedication and focused operations, they have mainly overcome projects such as “Research and Development of Key Technologies for Monolithic High-Performance Automotive Capacitive Touchscreens and Large-Scale Industrial Application” and “Research and Application of Online Precision Detection Systems for Automotive Touchscreens,” effectively transforming the team’s innovative achievements. The team’s superb technical level has gained recognition from various parties, accumulating 117 authorized patents and several high-quality high-tech products in Guangdong Province, and has received multiple honors including the “2019 Guangdong Province May Day Labor Award” and the “2021 Guangdong Province Science and Technology Progress Award First Prize.”
To cultivate a high-quality innovative team, the team builds a good development space and working environment for talents, and through research project cooperation and cutting-edge technology drive, achieves knowledge and experience sharing, injecting new vitality into the enterprise. “We encourage team members to take on multiple roles, learn and master multiple skills, and have created a star-rated promotion channel for frontline technical talents, while party members actively take on pioneer roles in projects.” Zhu Shijian told reporters that the team actively explores deep integration models of industry-university-research with several higher education institutions such as Shantou University, South China University of Technology, and Shantou Light Industry Equipment Research Institute, developing various AOI detection equipment, automation equipment, and other high-tech products tailored to specific process needs, effectively promoting the localization of equipment.
Precise Layout, Continuously Strengthening the Real Economy of the Enterprise
The team, through continuous technological innovation, drives the upgrade of the touchscreen industry from consumer-grade to automotive-grade, providing assurance for the autonomous and controllable supply chain of China’s automotive industry and making an important demonstration for the leap in international competitiveness of Chinese automotive electronic components.
Currently, the independent innovation capability and technical level of the enterprise where the team is located have significantly improved, with good economic benefits, accumulating sales revenue of approximately 4 billion yuan and over 200 million yuan in taxes over the past three years. Team members stated that they will take this award of “National Worker Pioneer” as a new starting point, continuing to dedicate themselves to the research and development of automotive touchscreens and process innovation, continuously promoting technological progress and industrial upgrading, and striving to further consolidate and expand China’s leading advantage in the new energy vehicle industry.
