The third-grade student, Xiao Doubao, always counts the words when writing essays. When I shared this situation in the Zhixing student group, a senior immediately shared a similar scene of a top student counting words in English essays, which comforted me greatly. After organizing the essays from this half semester, I found that the children had many highlights and quotable phrases, which I have compiled for preservation.01 The Argument of the Pencil Case (Word Count: 223) One late night, the pencil, eraser, and fountain pen were arguing about who was the most useful. The pencil proudly said, “I can write many beautiful words.” The eraser retorted, “I can erase your words; without me, how can you correct mistakes?” The pencil asked the fountain pen, “What is your characteristic?” The fountain pen replied, “I write quickly and can be used for a long time.” The pencil said to the eraser, “Can you write?” “No,” the eraser answered. “Then can you erase?” the eraser asked. “No,” the fountain pen replied. “Can you erase words?” the pencil asked the fountain pen. “I can write and also erase words,” the fountain pen answered. The pencil case said, “Each of you has your own characteristics; you are all the best.”02 A Unique Birthday Party (Word Count: 326) One day after class, everyone was discussing birthdays. Xiao Hong said, “My mom bought me a big cake.” Zhang San said, “My birthday is celebrated with the whole family.” Li Xiaoming was feeling down because no one was celebrating his birthday with him, and he returned to his seat dejectedly. Zhang San said, “Tomorrow is Li Xiaoming’s birthday; we can prepare a big cake for him, along with lots of food, hang some colorful flags, and stick up some balloons to give him a surprise.” Xiao Hong nodded in agreement. After school on Friday, Zhang San and Xiao Hong gathered everyone to decorate the classroom. Everyone took out the items they had prepared in advance, first hanging up colorful flags, then sticking up a balloon. Xiao Hong brought out a construction vehicle cake with several small construction vehicles on it. Zhang San suggested a bag of snacks, and everyone took out their prepared gifts. A classmate brought Li Xiaoming to the classroom, and he was taken aback. Everyone sang the birthday song together, and Li Xiaoming shed tears of joy. He said, “This is the most unforgettable birthday I’ve ever had.” This truly was a unique birthday party!03 My School (Word Count: 232) I am in the third grade at Bocai Zhonghai Primary School. This school is located by the beautiful Jinjiang River, with over five thousand students and more than a hundred classes; it is indeed a large school! During recess, the campus is very lively. Some students are drawing at their desks, some are playing games in the hallway, some are playing soccer on the playground, and others are getting water at the drinking fountain. My primary school is this lively. In class, the students are very attentive. Some students have their eyes wide open, staring intently at the teacher; some students are writing diligently in their notebooks, capturing all the knowledge; and some students are furrowing their brows, pondering the questions raised. This is our lovely primary school, a riverside school. Students learn and play here, growing happily.04 On the Way Home from School (Word Count: 210) After a rain in autumn, the weather in Changsha has become cooler. Although the leaves of the camphor trees are still lush and green, I can still feel the traces of autumn on the way home from school. On both sides of the road, the big trees stand like soldiers on guard, their leaves dancing in the wind, little bugs crawling slowly on the trees, and the grass swaying left and right in the breeze. Birds are singing in the trees, and classmates are discussing their studies together. By the Xiangjiang River, there is Orange Isle, which has a wide avenue leading to the statue of Chairman Mao. The little fish in the Xiangjiang River are happily singing, and there are some small vendors. The scenery on the road is truly beautiful! For the first time, I feel that the scenery on the way home from school is really beautiful!Parenting Diary | Compilation of Essays by Second Graders
