Case Sharing: The Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Classroom Teaching

To promote the application of artificial intelligence in the teaching process and to establish a collaborative mechanism for building application cases of AI in education, Shanghai Jiao Tong University encourages all faculty and students to co-create and share, comprehensively enhancing the quality of teaching through AI assistance. Below are the collected and organized “Application Cases of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching” from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

In class, use AI visualization solutions: Haar cascade detection of facial expressions + OpenPose for body posture recognition. Monitor teachers’ and students’ facial expressions and body postures during class, establishing a correspondence between teaching behaviors and features such as movements, postures, and expressions, forming a corresponding index system, making the measurement of teaching behaviors more operable. Ultimately, achieve data-driven and controllable student learning behaviors during the pre-class, in-class, and post-class processes in college physics labs, thereby improving teaching effectiveness.
