BLE Wall Switch Solution Without Neutral Wire Connection
Power Integrations has released a new design example report (DER-832) – this single live wire Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) smart wall switch does not require a neutral wire connection and can power LED/fluorescent/incandescent bulbs from 3 W to 600 W.This design is based on PI’s high-efficiency LinkSwitch-TN2 offline switch power supply IC, featuring ultra-low power consumption, allowing the system leakage current under 230 VAC to be less than 100 µA.
Conventional smart wall switches require a third wire (neutral) to prevent ghosting or flickering caused by leakage current in standby mode, but most residential wall switches only have two wires. The LinkSwitch-TN2, combined with a proprietary current shaping circuit, provides an ideal solution for neutral-less wiring of multifunctional smart wall switches.
