This Arduino expansion board integrates various sensors from Infineon’s Xensiv product portfolio along with Sensirion’s SHT35 humidity and temperature sensor, thereby optimizing its functionality and enhancing the design journey for Infineon’s customers.

The expansion board enables design engineers to evaluate, prototype, and develop sensor-based applications alongside Infineon’s microcontrollers, wireless connectivity, and security chips.

“We are very pleased to collaborate with Sensirion,” said Philipp von Schierstädt, Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Infineon’s Consumer, Computing, and Communication business. “Together, we can expand our product range and simplify the work for designers of smart sensor applications.”

With the new expansion board, customers dedicated to smart home applications such as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) will have the opportunity to develop within Infineon’s ecosystem and access other sensors beyond the company’s consumer sensor portfolio (MEMS microphones, pressure sensors, carbon dioxide sensors, and radar sensors).

The sensors in the Arduino expansion board include Xensiv 60 GHz radar, PAS CO2 sensor, pressure sensor, PDM microphone, IMU, and Sensirion’s SHT35 humidity and temperature sensor, connected to Infineon’s PSoC 6, AIROC Bluetooth SoC, and WiFi microcontroller kit via the Arduino Uno connector.

The expansion board is fully capable of working with Infineon’s ModusToolbox software development platform to simplify software integration. This provides a comprehensive development environment: a unified platform with all the tools and resources needed for embedded systems development. Built-in code generation and configuration wizards automate repetitive tasks and simplify complex configurations.

The ModusToolbox development ecosystem is designed to scale according to project requirements and adapt to changing needs, providing developers with the essential libraries and code examples needed for rapid prototyping of various applications and Imagimob machine learning. This Arduino-compatible Xensiv sensor expansion board will be available in the third quarter of 2024.
