In the Marvel superhero series movies

Iron Man’s ability to attract female fans is at max level

Where do those flirting skills come from?

The answer is simply four words: Artificial Intelligence!

Besides Tony’s awesome wearable devices

smart home technology is also amazing

Ta-da!

On March 12,

the Zhongke Chuangxing Makerspace 【Star·Sky Dream Workshop】 brought a“secret weapon”

to make your home as “smart” as Iron Man’s home

With just this“secret weapon”you can

control the on/off and color of various lights in your home with your phone

Is it a blessing for lazy people and a tool for flirting?

What could it be?

Those who guessed it, please shout out its name with the little star:

Arduino!

Open Day: Making Hardware Easy with Arduino

Yes, it is a small development board

that can turn your home intothe control center of the Internet of Things

Open Day: Making Hardware Easy with Arduino

As a highly regarded development board in the industry

The power of Arduino lies in

allowing software engineers (programmers) who do not understand hardware circuits to play with hardware

and

people of all ages and backgrounds, even those in the arts, can easily get started

Open Day: Making Hardware Easy with Arduino

Alright~ let’s officially enter our topic……

Let’s take a look at the event held on Saturday by Zhongke Chuangxing & Xike Angels, the Graduate School of the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, and the Mud Maker Space【Star·Sky Dream Workshop】—Using Arduino to Control Smart Lights!

Open Day: Making Hardware Easy with Arduino

Speaker: Senior Maker Azheng

Since childhood, he has loved hands-on creation and design, and is a hardcore maker enthusiast. After graduating from Xi’an University of Technology in 2008, he worked at ZTE on terminal products, smart products, and mobile phone R&D and project management. In 2014, unable to suppress the maker spirit within, he founded the Mud Maker Space, which is currently one of the most active maker spaces in Northwest China.

Point 1:Arduino is a convenient, flexible, and easy-to-use open-source electronic prototyping platform, including hardware (various models of Arduino boards) and software (Arduino IDE).

Point 2:Arduino is open-source for both hardware and software.

Point 3:Arduino’s beginner tutorials are suitable for younger audiences, with very low entry barriers, even elementary school students can play.

Look, the 20 students participating in this event all received Arduino components for free on site, including Arduino development boards and wireless Bluetooth modules, instantly feeling cool!

Of course, to play with Arduino, you first need to download and install the Arduino IDE development tool~ well~ it has a very simple interface~ even if you have zero foundation, don’t worry, there are many finished codes in the tool, you can directly paste them in at first, just make small changes and you’re good to go!

Teacher Azheng taught everyone a simple piece of code, using two functions to control different colors of lights and the flickering and timing of the lights.

Wow~ this handsome young man has quickly gotten the hang of it. Why rely on looks when you can rely on skills? After Teacher Azheng’s explanation, the handsome young man has skillfully controlled the color of the lights using Arduino IDE.

The little girl in yellow is only 5 years old, named Jerry, currently in kindergarten. But her dad is a hardware enthusiast, so the little guy has good hand skills. He came to the event with his dad. Look, even a 5-year-old baby is here, what are you still hesitating about?

With his dad’s help, Jerry can now independently use his phone to issue commands to control the light’s color changes and switches. Jerry confidently told the little star, “When I turn 7, I will be able to play with this (Arduino) by myself.” Wow, the little guy has big ambitions, haha, but the little star really believes it!

Let’s appreciate the presence of our female coder! Is she dazzling you? Why not learn Arduino? Your gap will only grow!

Teacher Azheng has another big move, how to add a Bluetooth sensor module to Arduino?

Once connected, you can happily send commands~ Come on~ first input the G command, after “send,” it immediately turns green, then try stacking~ sending “RG,” the light immediately turns yellow, fantastic o(≧v≦)o

The task is complete! In just 2 hours, everyone successfully made a smart light using Arduino, isn’t that great? This event was just the basic Arduino teaching, but it is an indispensable part of smart home technology. Arduino can also be used for many electronic interactions—light control, sound control, temperature measurement, color, distance, button, vibration, etc.
