According to reports from Fast Technology, if you don’t want to get pregnant and give birth, perhaps a robot can take on the task!

Recently, several tech media outlets reported an astonishing piece of news: a “robot mother” may be developed within a year. Reports indicate that Dr. Zhang Qifeng from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore is working on the world’s first gestational robot.

Unlike traditional IVF or surrogacy, this system not only simulates the uterine environment but is also housed within a humanoid robot, allowing the “robot mother” to replicate the entire human experience from pregnancy to childbirth. It is understood that the current technology is based on gestational chambers, which are now being integrated into the robot’s abdomen, with a prototype expected to be launched within a year, priced at no more than 100,000 yuan.

When discussing the motivation behind the research, Zhang Qifeng stated, “It aims to meet the needs of those who do not want to marry but still desire a partner.” He mentioned that the current technology is based on gestational chambers, which are already quite mature. The goal now is to integrate this technology into the robot’s abdomen, allowing for natural conception and growth within the robot.

He anticipates that such a prototype will be available within a year, with an estimated price not exceeding 100,000 yuan. Notably, according to reports from China Business News, in 2014, Zhang Qifeng, shortly after graduating with a PhD from Nanyang Technological University, gave up a teaching position with a salary of 600,000 yuan to pursue a career in robotics. He founded Kaiwa Robotics in Longgang, Shenzhen, and successfully made his first fortune with a food delivery robot.

Many netizens expressed support, believing it could liberate women’s wombs.
