In recent years, influenced by multiple factors such as the international environment, market demand, policy guidance, and changes in business scenarios, domestic IT practitioners have become increasingly aware that enhancing the autonomy and innovation capabilities of key technologies and software products is a necessary path. The banking industry, as one of the most information-intensive sectors in China, has begun to gradually adopt domestic system architectures, with databases being a crucial part of system transformation. Meanwhile, with the rapid development of the mobile internet, the scale of online payment users in China continues to expand, and the IT systems of banks are facing more and more challenges. According to the “Statistical Report on the Development of the Internet in China,” as of December 2021, the number of online payment users in China reached 904 million, an increase of 49.29 million compared to the previous period. In the first three quarters of 2021, banks processed a total of 74.556 billion online payment transactions, amounting to 174.59 trillion yuan, representing year-on-year growth of 17.3% and 10.5%, respectively. The rapidly developing internet finance business undoubtedly places enormous pressure on IT systems in terms of performance, elasticity, and cost, and the 24/7 service requirement imposes strict demands on business continuity.

To ensure data security and address the challenges posed by new business, banks are increasingly seeking change, and the process of replacing databases with domestic alternatives is accelerating.
Imperative: Extreme Performance Drives Domestic Transformation
A City Commercial Bank is a publicly listed bank with total assets exceeding 500 billion yuan, operating across 14 provinces nationwide. With a strong market operating scale and profitability, this bank ranks among the top in the “Top 100 Chinese Banks” list.
To enhance the performance of its entire IT system and improve its autonomy, A City Commercial Bank decided in 2021 to undertake a transformation of its system architecture to domestic solutions. Among these, the database, as the cornerstone of stable IT system operation, is undoubtedly a top priority. To select a more suitable domestic database for business development, A City Commercial Bank conducted a public tender.
“The banking system prioritizes stability above all else. During the process of domestic replacement, we must minimize various risks. At the same time, the domestic database needs to enhance our ability to meet new business challenges,” said the General Manager of the Technology Department of A City Commercial Bank. “Our system faces the challenge of 8 million users accessing concurrently. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, online channels have served more than 13 million customers. Therefore, the domestic database product must have a robust transaction processing mechanism that supports transaction processing in high-concurrency business scenarios.”
In addition, A City Commercial Bank requires that the domestic database product supports security mechanisms such as database storage encryption and data transmission channel encryption to ensure the safety of customer personal business data.
After a detailed comparison of the performance and compatibility of multiple database products, A City Commercial Bank ultimately chose the enterprise-level relational database MogDB from Yunyuan Enmo. “MogDB offers financial-grade high availability and extreme security with full encryption, meeting our business needs from core transactions to complex computations. Additionally, MogDB has good compatibility with the data storage structures of Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, which is very important for our database replacement.“
Steady and Secure: Efficient Tools Ensure Smooth Migration and Operation
After reaching a cooperation intention with Yunyuan Enmo, A City Commercial Bank quickly developed a database replacement plan, with the core goal of smoothly migrating 21 sets of business systems from heterogeneous databases such as Oracle, DB2, MySQL, and PostgreSQL to MogDB.

During the migration process, the accompanying database migration tool MTK rapidly imported the data structures and all data from heterogeneous databases into the target database, MogDB. For example, the migration test results of the A-class comprehensive counter graphical front-end system showed that MTK completed the full, rapid, and error-free data migration within 10 minutes.

In addition, MogDB also provides high availability and backup recovery management tools. The architecture corresponding to different business systems, with one master and one backup or one master and multiple backups, combines with MogDB’s high availability management system MogHA, reducing the database failure duration from minutes to seconds (RPO=0, RTO<60s), ensuring high availability services for the database cluster. Furthermore, MogHA can monitor the status of instances and master-slave configurations, and immediately perform reasonable master-slave switching operations upon detecting a failure, greatly meeting the high standards of banks for business continuity.
In the disaster recovery tests conducted before the launch of the collaborative office system and print control system, when a hardware failure in the OA system caused performance bottlenecks and computing node crashes, MogHA was able to automatically perform virtual IP drift and master-slave switching, allowing the bank to continue providing business services even during server failures, achieving a “zero perception” experience for users.

Database backup is crucial for daily operations, and the accompanying backup recovery tool BRM can efficiently, securely, and conveniently manage daily database backups and recovery, effectively improving operational efficiency. Before the launch of A City Commercial Bank’s ITIL business, local backups (BRM) and remote backups (NBU) were performed based on the existing network database, and a data recovery drill based on the NBU backup set + specified recovery time was completed in the testing environment, with no data loss after recovery.

Working Together: Architectural Transformation Establishes A City Commercial Bank as a Leader
During the database replacement process, A City Commercial Bank, Yunyuan Enmo, and application system developers collaborated closely to ensure a smooth transition and stable operation of all business systems. As of now, A City Commercial Bank’s 6 B-class systems (traceable systems, data distribution platforms, historical query platforms, collaborative office systems, retail financial management platforms, and print control management systems) and 3 C-class systems (project management platform – integrated management system for R&D and operations, IT service operation management platform – ITIL, ELINK) have been successfully put into production; some A-class systems (such as the comprehensive counter graphical front-end system) have completed adaptation, migration, stress, and business testing, and will be launched soon. “Rome wasn’t built in a day. The transformation of IT systems is also a gradual process. The stable operation of MogDB in B-class and C-class systems has strengthened our confidence in replacing the database of A-class core systems,” said the General Manager of the Technology Department. Aiming to become the leader among city commercial banks, A City Commercial Bank continues to expand its business scale, which requires extreme security, stability, and efficiency in business processing capabilities and IT architecture. In the process of domestic database replacement, Yunyuan Enmo not only provided stable and reliable database infrastructure software but also configured a comprehensive operational system including deep inspections, risk assessments, fault diagnosis, monitoring, and backups, while also providing training for internal technical personnel on managing and operating MogDB and MogHA high availability system software, ensuring the continuous and stable operation of the entire digital system after production.
