In line with the cultural spirit of focusing on fundamentals and cutting-edge advancements, the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the School of Computer Science has organized the 2021 Microcontroller Programming Competition. This initiative aims to enhance the construction of microcontroller-related majors and courses, strengthen engineering practice, design, and innovation capabilities, and emphasize the cultivation of students’ innovation abilities, hands-on skills, and collaborative spirit. The competition is designed to guide students to consolidate classroom knowledge, collect data for analysis, improve designs, and develop products, thereby nurturing high-quality IT application talents.
The competition requires students to master basic computer software, data analysis, programming languages, and other theoretical knowledge. Through teamwork, they will design projects and implement functionalities based on project requirements, continuously improving their deliverables and enhancing their foundational skills, innovative thinking, and imagination. Finally, teams will present their projects, testing students’ verbal expression abilities and further developing their overall qualities.
This competition adopted a live draw to confirm project topics,and the entire competition process was closed, focusing on practical exercises to test students’ comprehensive design and development capabilities, promoting the training of technical talents in the computer field, and delivering high-end talents with innovative and practical abilities for the Lanqiao Cup Microcontroller Competition and the computer industry, enhancing employment competitiveness and comprehensively advancing the talent cultivation process.
Due to the pandemic, this competition was held entirely online, with 24 contestants selected for the preliminary round, which focused on theoretical knowledge assessment. The 24 contestants were monitored by professional teachers via cameras, and staff recorded the contestants’ responses in real-time to eliminate any cheating behaviors that could affect the fairness of the competition.
After overcoming numerous challenges, a total of 12 contestants successfully advanced to the finals. The final competition will take place on September 1 at 8:00 AM, with professional teachers releasing the design requirements document for the “Smart Voltage Monitoring System” project on Tencent Docs.
Contestants are required to complete the design, implementation, and video demonstration of the project within a limited time of 5 hours. This presents certain difficulties for contestants in understanding the documentation, researching materials, designing projects, and solving complex engineering problems, and it also tests their psychological resilience and ability to work under pressure within a limited timeframe.
Ultimately, through scoring and discussions among the judges, 6 contestants achieved outstanding results with excellent performances, with 2 contestants achieving the highest quality in this competition project, tying for first place.
On September 14, the School of Computer Science and the School of Software held an award ceremony for the winners.

Third Prize: Li Yong 69.2 points, Qi Songyu 48 points

Second Prize: Zhang Aixi 83 points, Liao Chuanbei 80.2 points

First Prize: Cheng Zhi 96 points, Han Xu 95 points

This competition not only showcased the talents of the students in the Department of Computer Science and Technology but also provided an opportunity for students to engage in in-depth learning, exchange, and share experiences, creating a positive learning atmosphere. After the award ceremony, although the intense competition has concluded, a larger and new stage awaits ahead.
