“Despite hostile forces obstructing North Korea from accessing advanced research results and hindering the development of science and technology, they are still vigorously advancing related research work… AI has entered the lives of the North Korean people.”
According to a report by the Korean Central News Agency on July 21, Kim Kwang-hyuk, director of the Artificial Intelligence Technology Research Institute at Kim Il Sung University, made the above statement in an interview.
In the medical field, Director Kim hinted at the potential application of AI technology in future medical settings. The report from the Korean Central News Agency published a photo with the caption “AI robot supporting medical volunteer services introduced at a pharmacy in Pyongyang.”
Although the report specifies it as an “AI robot,” it cannot be confirmed whether it is a common clothing model or a true humanoid robot. Previously, on May 21, the Korean Central News Agency had published the same photo with a theme of 24-hour service pharmacies.
