Two informed sources told Reuters that Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. plans to begin mass shipments of the “Ascend 910C” AI chip to Chinese customers as early as next month, with some chips already shipped ahead of schedule.
Sources indicated that the upcoming 910C combines two 910B processors into a single package using advanced integration technology, achieving performance comparable to NVIDIA’s H100 chip.
It was also noted that the 910C has double the computing power and memory capacity of the 910B, along with progressive improvements, including enhanced support for diverse AI workload data.
This release from Huawei comes at a critical time, as Chinese AI companies are seeking domestic alternatives to NVIDIA’s H20 chip, which was originally NVIDIA’s flagship AI chip sold in the Chinese market.
Previously, the U.S. had cut off China’s access to NVIDIA’s most advanced AI products, including its flagship B200 chip, with subsequent H100 chips and “stripped-down” H20 chips also being regulated.
Given such strict regulatory policies, Paul Triolo, a partner at Albright Stone Group, pointed out that the Huawei 910C GPU will now become the preferred hardware for Chinese AI model developers and deployment inference capabilities.
Earlier, DeepSeek also validated the performance of the 910, and according to tests, the 910’s inference performance can reach 60% of the H100.
Insiders revealed that Huawei sent samples of the 910C to several tech companies at the end of last year and began taking orders. Reuters has not yet confirmed which companies will be the main producers of the 910C.
Huawei declined to comment on this matter.
