In the realm of mobile image sensors, Samsung’s approach over the past two years has diverged from Sony’s. While Sony has focused on larger sensors, maintaining pixel counts around 50 million, Samsung has prioritized the development of 100 million and 200 million pixel sensors. However, there has been a slight deficiency in the 1-inch large sensor category, which will be addressed with three new sensors in 2024.
According to reports from users on X, Samsung’s ISOCELL series is expected to launch at least three noteworthy sensors in the second half of 2024, with the following models and basic specifications:HP7: 200 million pixels, 0.6um sub-pixel sizeGN6: 50 million pixels, 1.6um sub-pixel sizeHU1: 440 million pixels, sub-pixel size unknownAmong these three products, the 200 million pixel sensor is likely a standard upgrade, while the GN6 is particularly noteworthy as it will be Samsung’s 1-inch large sensor, paired with 1.6um large pixels, promising impressive photography results.As for the HU1, it is expected to be a new series product with 440 million pixels, which is quite impressive, but its area is still uncertain, and its positioning may not necessarily be flagship-level; more details are needed for confirmation.In summary, Samsung will introduce new products in both large sensor and high pixel categories next year, and these sensors are unlikely to debut in Samsung’s own Galaxy flagship devices.
