In terms of computing power, the main frequency has increased from 72MHz of STM32F3 to 170MHz of STM32G4, adding a hardware mathematical operation accelerator (trigonometric functions + digital filtering), enhancing MCU performance, and further establishing STM32G4’s leading performance in motor control. The efficiency of motor control has greatly improved from coordinate rotation transformation, from trigonometric function lookup to direct hardware computation, logarithmic, and square root operations.

In terms of peripheral resources, the on-chip analog peripherals have reached an unprecedented configuration, with 6 operational amplifiers, 7 comparators, 5 12-bit ADCs with hardware oversampling at 4MSPS, 7 DACs, and higher integration, making the motor control board design simpler and BOM costs more optimized. One STM32G4 can achieve dual motor and three-resistor current sampling, dual FOC control, without the need for additional comparators and operational amplifiers, making it a comprehensive solution for motor control analog peripherals.

In terms of cost, since STM32G4 is aimed at the “mainstream” application market, its cost positioning is “infinitely close” to today’s STM32F1 and STM32F3. Today, the cost of MCUs in the industrial market is no longer the main bottleneck, allowing our users to focus more on their algorithms and product quality, which is a breakthrough.

In terms of market applications, the STM32G4 series can operate at a maximum ambient temperature of 125°C, further expanding its application range, especially in some industrial fields with harsh environmental temperatures, such as “hardware board-level embedded” controllers, encoders, four-wheeled vehicle controllers, and digital power supplies working under special environmental conditions.
