In the smartphone world, owning a Huawei MateX extraordinary master foldable screen phone, which starts at nearly 20,000 yuan, is undoubtedly a symbol of status. However, such an expensive price is destined to be out of reach for the vast majority of ordinary people. But now, for just over 500 yuan, you can buy a phone with a rear camera remarkably similar to the Huawei MateX extraordinary master.
This phone is known as the “Ordinary Master,” the Meizu Note16, which is affordable for everyone. Before its release, I was actually quite skeptical about this device. Although I am a long-time Meizu fan, based on the various parameters exposed, the Meizu Note16 can only be described as mediocre, especially with its appearance resembling that of the Huawei MateX extraordinary master.
It gives a sense of cheapness, but this judgment was based on my expectation that the price would be above 1,000 yuan. After the release, seeing the price, there was nothing more to say; after national subsidies, it was priced at less than 594 yuan, under 600 yuan. During the 618 shopping festival, many friends even got it for 510 or even over 400 yuan in live broadcasts, and at this price, the phone is almost entirely full of advantages.
First, regarding the appearance, although the Meizu Note16 has a plastic back cover, both the materials and workmanship are very solid. The entire device fits together seamlessly, and the quality far exceeds other models in the same price range. The front features a custom 120Hz + 1080P LCD screen, with full brightness DC + hardware low blue light, which is well understood by those in the know.
Moreover, the control of the black borders is better than that of most LCD screen phones, proving that even in the low-end market, Meizu is trying its best to deliver quality. The latest Xiaomi’s self-developed chip, the Xuanjie O1, is very popular, and the Meizu Note16 is also equipped with the domestic Unisoc T8200 processor, which is a special tuned version. Its performance is roughly comparable to the Dimensity 6100+, featuring 2 A76 and 6 A55 cores, with a benchmark score of around 420,000.
This performance is sufficient for daily use and is also quite power-efficient. The system is a customized full version of Flyme, which has undergone significant UI simplification and animation trimming, effectively squeezing the performance out of this domestic chip. Especially with the phone’s 6600mAh ultra-large battery, the battery life can easily last for two days without any issues.
The charging power is also set at 40W. As for the rear camera, don’t expect too much; at this price point, it’s only suitable for scanning codes. There’s also an AI dedicated button that I think is a highlight, which can be customized for functions like flashlight, mute, etc., making it very useful. Additionally, it features a 3.5mm headphone jack, drop resistance, and IP65 water and dust resistance, with navigation also able to display directions. Lastly, I must say, the similarly priced popular device, the Redmi 14C, is about the same price, but the Meizu Note16 truly outshines it!
